Special Programs
Welcome to Special Education!
Hartwood offers special education classes for students in need. These students must qualify for services as determined by the Child Study Team. Each student has an IEP, which is reviewed annually. Students may receive services in the special education department as well as in their general education classrooms. Work performed in special education supports the curriculum that is taught in their general classrooms.

The students are working hard and we are proud of each of them!
Please remember to read with your child! It doesn't matter if you read to them or they read to you. You can even "popcorn" read! Reading helps with fluency and adds new words to their vocabulary. The more you read, the better they will get!
Make sure to practice math facts with your child! Memorizing the multiplication tables makes it faster and easier to learn new concepts. You can buy flashcards, or better still, make your own.....together!
If you have questions or need ideas on how to make studying less painful, call us and we will try our best to help!

| Just a few reminders: -Please remember to check your child's agenda everyday. We find this a great communication tool between teachers and parents. -Reading with your child is not only a great together time, but it helps them fulfill their daily reading requirements for their classrooms. -Remember to send only appropriate snacks with your child: crackers, juice, and fruit are good examples. Sweets are not the best thing when we are trying to concentrate and focus. |
